Look, look: Ongina is doing an ongoing series of short videos for the HIV + Me project, talking about her experience and with other young poz people about their own. You can watch them here on Logo. (Bonus: these are not blocked outside of the US). They're definitely worth watching. She's a good interviewer and the interviews are surprisingly frank and very touching really.
Here's a picture of Ongina looking extra fabulous, just because.

Henry Rollins (amazing straight ally and guest judge this week) has a new piece in Vanity Fair: It's Time for Gays to Start Discriminating Against the Catholic Church.
I loved that these were the reactions to their being told that Henry would be there:

Here's a fun review of the latest episode, 'Rocker Chicks' (contains spoilers, obviously). And some spoilery clips from Jezebel (Henry liked being flipped off! ♥ Ru may have made him blush! Jessica Wild's sources of inspiration are the muppets and Jem & the Holograms! Could she be any more adorable?)
Bebe Zahara Benet writes a weekly column about the show, and interviews the eliminated contestants, for pridesource.com; her newest one can be read here.
Finally, forall the any(?) Tyra fans (no, seriously I have to admit sometimes she has pretty makeup) here's an excellent tutorial to replicate her gold cut-crease eye makeup.

Date: 2010-03-18 08:36 am (UTC)And I'm so delighted Jessica won. I felt for Pandora, because she did a fantastic job, but Jessica ♥♥♥!! I agree with you - she had me at Jem and the Holograms (I could totally see it too. Her wig was very Pizazz). Ooh, and that column from Henry is so fucking right. Screw those sons of bitches, honestly. (have you seen The Henry Rollins Show, btw? Great interviews, fantastic rants, amazing live music. You should check it out if you haven't! It's not on anymore but both seasons are on DVD. So awesome. *fangirls*)
In conclusion: Jessica! ♥ Henry! ♥ That is all.

Date: 2010-03-18 07:41 pm (UTC)Tatianna is adorable, I think. Also Jujubee -- and I feel like maybe Juju is getting a winner's edit? I do feel for her about her father and stuff but they're playing it up so hard (she can't be the only one of them who's lost a parent. In fact I just remembered Pandora talking about how her father is sick right *now* but they're not emphasising that).
I was happy for Jessica but I felt like in this case, her blonde wig was just so ... unflattering. She should have worn the pink/green one that she made and offered to Ru! (speaking of which, holy crap, her wig for the judging was insane! I almost want to make a picspam of her wigs/dresses this season).
Screw those sons of bitches, honestly.
Yes. Henry was a great judge! I'm increasingly intrigued by him and I'm definitely going to check out his show. Thanks for the tip. And I was too amused by how short he looks next to Ru in the picture of them together, because he's not a small person at all.
I loved his critique to Pandora (something like: you had all this aggressive punk attitude but then sometimes you'd get all "yay" and start skipping. You have to remember to stay angry!) Which was hilarious because it was true. And it's one of the reasons I love Pandora so much; she's like a cartoon character. I'd love for her to win. I'm hoping her age doesn't work against her (for one, she's actually one of the youngest-looking of them). Still, I thought that Henry seemed to like Pandora best?

Date: 2010-03-19 01:57 am (UTC)I totally agree! The Pizazz wig would have been much better. I still think she was the best overall though, so I'm glad she won. As for Henry - I thought he loved Pandora and Jessica both. And of course Terri was all over Raven (was it me or has her makeup really harsh this week? Maybe her wig was throwing unflattering shadows, but eek!). And haha, the happy Henry gif also needs to be iconised. You and I are handicapped by our lack of skills in this area!
(I think you're right about Jujubee btw. I guess we'll see soon!)
I'm increasingly intrigued by him and I'm definitely going to check out his show.
Dooooo! He's a fairly awkward and overly earnest interviewer, IMO, but he gets people to share their opinions on stuff. He's hugely respected in the music scene, hence him being able to get guys like Thom Yorke and Mike Patton and QotSA to perform on the show. And he's friends with some interesting people! Apparently he goes to a poker night once a week at William Shatner's house? So random. Okay, I'll stop going on about Henry and head out for my mani/pedi. Priorities!
