Just a few photos and some incoherent commentary on the Drag Race finale party and crowning in NYC on May 6. Shots are courtesy of my friend [livejournal.com profile] denisia.

Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] sharon_alaska....

William, Vicky Vox, and Detox kicked it off with Boy is a Bottom. (I think that's what they performed. Or was it Chick-Fil-A? My memories of this event are extremely hazy which is why I will keep snarky commentary, or any commentary, to a minimum).

3b trio

Detox. She's such a sweetie. It's hard to finish in 4th place and I hope she's ok.

And lots more pics behind the cut.

The scary thing is, I noticed during the last episode that Boxxxy Obnoxxxy Rolodex really does look like a bitchy Kathy Najimy.

Hey there, squirrel friends! Did you fall asleep in your makeup and wig again? Well… that’s ok. Cause this party? It ain’t over yet!

You’ve had a chance to discuss this week’s episode in profound and well written comments. (Don’t quit, by the way! There’s still more to be discussed.) But now it’s time for a .gif/animation/graphic party for this week’s episode. So have at it like it’s a two piece and a biscuit! Post your favorite gifs and what not from this week! (And if you want to add some fun captions, I won’t stop you…)

Just make sure that you don’t post spoilers for any upcoming episodes! Thank you!

P.S. In case you missed the announcement, I’m one of your new mods and I’m here to serve you! This is a new thing we’re going to try out to get some activity up in here. If you like it, let us know! :)

Two weeks ago I went to NYC for my vacation and one of the places that I went to was Boxers NYC! Manila Luzon has been hosting viewing parties for Drag Race there and now Drag U. The bar plays Drag U on three screens and when the comericals come on Manila grabs a microphone and walks through the crowd interviewing people.

Posting from TwitPic so hopefully these show up!

Boxers also serves light fare, pizza and the usuall bar food, so if you are in midtown you can grab a bite to eat before watching DragU with Manila! The staff is really nice and friendly plus they are on Twitter, too!

Pictures of (almost) EVERYONE at the premiere party yesterday --- HERE and HERE.

And look, Merle Ginsberg's permanent judge position has been taken over by a lady queen called Michelle Visage. And some of the guest judges will be Margaret Cho (!!), Carmen Electra, LaToya Jackson, Amber Rose, Chloë Sevigny, Lily Tomlin, Johnny Weir and Vanessa Williams!

Also, a question -- would people want to have a weekly discussion post when the season starts on January 24? And would anyone be interested in starting that? (I won't be able to do it).

ETA: Lots more premiere pictures at After Elton!

Here -- lots of photos from last night (but this actually airs on June 17th). Mystique's the only one who's not a mess, IMO.

RuPaul's Drag Race Tour Update.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race Tour (fueled sponsored by Absolut) is well under way, and it tore up Micky’s in West Hollywood last Friday night. Want a peek? Watch none other than Season 2’s hellaciously fierce winner, [xxx] rage on the stage to this mashup of scenes from Precious and Dreamgirls and beyond … (via WorldofWonder.net)

RuPaul's Drag Race won the GLAAD award for Outstanding Reality Program, presented April 17th in LA.

The annual GLAAD media awards 'elevate and promote fair, accurate and inclusive stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues, people and allies that have increased awareness, understanding and respect for the lives of LGBT people.'

ETA: And Ru posted on his blog to squee about meeting Adam Lambert, who performed at the awards (vid here) :D

Image and video hosting by TinyPicThis right here is the main reason I love the themed episodes so much: Ru's hair and outfits. Especially his mentoring-time outfits.

Here is Ru with tonight's guest judge, Jackie Collins.

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this particular dress and wig, though.

IMO Ru's best most fun outfits so far this season:

Here's the exit interview with this week's eliminated contestant.

Really bad decision, IMO.

Also -- Henry Rollins is guest judge next week!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic No new episode this week :( But! RuPaul has written a new book, Workin' It! - RuPaul's Guide to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Style. I haven't read any reviews but if the introduction and photos are anything to go by, it's the best fashion/life/photography/wig-care/spirituality/drag/etc? guide ever written.

From the introduction: "Drag queens are essentially making fun of the roles people are playing. And in doing so “drags” have become experts at parody, satire, and deconstructing social patterns.

[...] drag queens aren’t praised as such because they carry the burden of shame inflicted on feminine men by a masculine-dominated society. Feminine behaviour in a man is seen as an act of treason in a masculine culture, as opposed to in ancient cultures that relied on drag queens, shamans, and witch doctors to remind each individual member of the tribe of their duality as male and female, human and spirit, body and soul.
"

Image and video hosting by TinyPicBest episode this season, y/y? Before anything else: Shirtless, nameless hunks this season? You're awesome!! Well done. Loved the sell.

Ru’s idea of Ladyboy night-on-the-town essentials: Brass fucking knuckles? Pepper spray? And a really nice wig! I love Ru. She has lived and is brilliant. Also, only she can so effortlessly make “We’ve been out stimulating the economy” sound so charming and so dirty.

A little review and the main video highlights here, from Jezebel.

Funniest lines this week:

I want to hug everything that Jessica says. Such as her response to “Who’s going to be in the bottom two?”

“Being bottom is not bad.”
