Jonathan Ross to create UK version of Rupaul's Drag Race?

I stumbled upon this on Twitter today and thought it was exciting. What would you think of a British Drag Race?

Personally, I'm surprised there isn't an Australian Drag Race by now.

Jonathan Ross leered at me across a shop 20 years ago and I still have`nt got over the horror of his sweating face, so there`s no way that i`m gonna watch him host a drag show :p

The English are much better at making period drama`s than they are at emulating American TV show concepts. I lived in Oz for a few years though and I would say that their drag queens could make a much more entertaining show.

My only problem with that is that Jonathan Ross is not a drag queen. I mean, if one wants a dry chat show host, sure. I wonder who they could get to host that would be as RuPaul-esque as possible;maybe Graham Norton? I am seeing Dame Shirley Bassey as the Michelle Visage equivalent, though.

And the Australian Drag Race would have to be Dame Edna's Drag Race, right?

I'd want to be enthusiastic, but I'm not a fan of Jonathan Ross, and I do feel like British versions of US shows have been seriously lacklustre, in recent years anyway (BINTM being a prime example - even with Elle MacPherson as the host, it just looked like a cheaper variant.) Such a big part of this show does come from Ru's personality and energy - not sure how we'd emulate that.

I'd much prefer a one-off with Ru and Michelle coming over here. Bianca could replace Santino, ha!

I know it's pointless at this point, but I still wish that Billy B would replace Santino.

Billy was a hoot, especially when he made that remark about Michelle being worth about $22 including her tits :D

If they replaced Santino with a turd we probably would`nt notice. I know it would never happen but I would like to see one of Ru`s peers up on the judges panel, especially Lahoma, or Joey Arias, The Mistress Formika, Sherry Vine ...

Could you maybe start a petition to get rid of Santino ? I can only imagine that he has some dirt on Ru and that`s why he`s still on the show.

Not only was Billy funny, but he knew what he was talking about, unlike Santino. I loved that his comments were informed and helpful, rather than whatever you want to call Santino's. LOL, I forgot about that comment!

I don't know what good a petition would do, but it would be amusing to see how many people want him gone.

Cause Ru isn't going to have another fierce queen on her judging panel. It all has to be about Ru.

But LB has judged Drag U multiple times. (And IMO her talents are wasted as such.) There's no reason the show can't still be all about Ru (because it's going to be) and also have a competent judging panel.

Right, but Drag U was like the ugly red headed stepchild to Drag Race, so it wasn't like Bunny was stealing THAT much attention from Ru. (I agree, Bunny was wasted on DU.) And I totally agree, I am all for a competent judging panel, I just don't see Ru putting another Queen on the panel. Not full time, anyway. Personally, I think it would be fun to see some of the more popular past contestants pop up as guest judges occasionally.

I really wish that they'd replace Santino with Billy B.
