RuPaul's Drag Race Season 5 (or, V) is coming on January 28th, 2013; and 14 queens have been revealed through scavenger hunt in the last 3 days on RPDR's social media outlets (Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook). All I can say is I can hardly wait for the season to begin... so, gentlemen start your engines... and may the best woman win!

Ivy, Detox, and Monica are the cutest to me, out of drag. My favorites in drag, though, have gotta be Penny, Detox, Honey, and Jinkx. I'm really hoping Jinkx and Penny don't turn out to be duds, because… Penny's the biggest cast member this season (the lack of Latrice, Jiggly, Delta, and Stacy-size plus-sized queens is really making me pout like Ru just canceled Christmas), and while I know Detox and Penny both do comedy (I think Alaska does as well, but I'll admit I'm not really familiar with her beyond, "she's Sharon's boyfriend"), but Jinkx is giving comedy-face in her goddess shoot, which along with her name, makes me hope that she's primarily a comedy queen. And… *shrugs* I have a huge bias in favor of plus-sized queens and comedy queens, basically. Honey's mostly on my list because her face if FIERCE. She and Monica might be the biggest boy-to-girl transformations this season.

Ok, now that I've got that out of the way. I'm psyched that Alaska has finally been picked. I remember when Season 2 was about to air and there was a casting special that showed audition clips from the girls who were chosen and many who weren't. Alaska was one of them.

The censors are going to have a field day. Lots of bleeping, me thinks.

Firstly it's Alaska thunderfuck not thundercunt, secondly how adorable is Ivy? Wondering why Ivy's shot is in profile and not face forward? I predict a huge divide between funny/original/wired girls versus pretty fish girls...predict cliques made up of detox, penny, Alaska, jinx versus Alyssa, ivy, Roxxy. I think and only judging by all their looks season 5 will be very similar to season 3 with boogers and heathers except the divide will occur based on conforming to straight up fish or taking a different approach to drag. Can't wait for Meet the Queens to really develop an opinion.

Sharon said once that Alaska had applied every year...I wonder if this was a sympathy casting, like "we can't not take the prior winner's boyfriend!" Hoping that Alaska acquits herself well!

Boy Ivy Winters=Matt Smith (current Dr. Who). Yes? Cutest one out of drag, IMO.

I'm sorry I'm new to this livejournal stuffs, this is my 1st post. I didn't know that there is limitation to the length of the post and I also had no idea about the tagging. So what should I do? "Put the pics under a cut"? How should I do that (I don't even see the "edit post" button)? If you could do the post editing or cutting for me (if it's possible), I'd be most grateful.

Anyway, I'm glad that Alaska finally got picked. All I know is that she tried every year and that she's the partner of Sharon, but I'd like to see more of her. I'm also curious about Detox and Roxxxy as everyone seems excited that they are in. Overall, I think all the queens look fabulous and I do hope that there will be a lot of drama (major major drama, *lol*) this season.

And maybe it's because Alaska had tried every year and this year she really impressed them, so I hope it's not out of pity or because she's in relationship with Sharon that they decided to give her a chance. But I believe she is a strong contender. So let's just wait and see how she'd manage it on the show. ;)

I know next to nothing about any of these queens -- I've heard of a few of them, like Alaska, Detox, Penny, and I think I've seen Coco's name before. I'd never heard of Honey Mahogany before, but I love her drag look in this set of photos; I also like the attitude Alyssa Edwards is displaying in her pose. Actually, they all look glamorous, and I look forward to seeing more.

The Asian queen this season isn't impressing me yet, which is sad especially after Jiggly and Phi Phi last season. Usually the Asian queens are fierce as hale~

Happy to see Alaska this season! As of right now, I think that my excitement over RPDR V is overwhelming my need to pick an early fave queen to cheer on. Is it 1/28/2013 yet? :P
