Date: 2012-05-03 10:33 am (UTC)I have to say the reunion special was interesting. I love the opening number and everything, but with the way it being filmed, this season definitely lacks emotional payoff of a reality tv show. I'm happy that Sharon won, but I think it would be a much better ending if the show had decided to do the finale as usual. It's already more than six months after the season was filmed, the contestants are no longer in the heat of the competition. And after reading EW's article about the crowning scene that was filmed three times, and Sharon's was the second take, it felt so fake and staged to me. Such a bad way to end a good season :(
Crowning scene is the most crucial part of the competition, IMO. And the emotion showed by the victor or the runner-ups NEEDS to be genuine. I remember last year how crushed Manila was when they announce that Raja won. This year, the three finalists had to fake a win and two loses, there were no genuine emotion whatsoever. It was kind of anticlimactic :/

Date: 2012-05-03 12:16 pm (UTC)You know, I'd read the article on how they filmed it before watching the finale, but I still found Sharon's "Happy Halloween!" very fitting somehow. I don't know if I would have preferred a genuine, tearful moment - there was something majestic and so in character with her persona about it that felt satisfying despite knowing about the staged nature of that moment.

Date: 2012-05-03 01:44 pm (UTC)I liked the reunion's cheesetastic pageant-like opening number. Wasn't wowed by the queens who had gotten eliminated early on.
Of course I am totes happy that Ru picked the RIGHT queen. Mind you, I would've been happy if Chad had won too. ^_^ I'm glad that Ru saw Needles' potential.
I'm totes psyched about All-Stars, btw.
Oh, finally, the reason I picked the review round ups as the thing I am the least interested in is because I don't usually have the time to read all of them.

Date: 2012-05-03 07:33 pm (UTC)Somewhere about halfway through the season I jumped the Sharon ship and got aboard the Chad ship, but I'm still happy that Sharon won. I would've loved her outfit, if only you couldn't have seen her bra.
Overall I liked this season a lot. I didn't understand the complaints about it. I'm really looking forward to seeing these girls on All-Stars, as long as Phail Phail isn't there.
