I thought for sure Phoenix would last waaaaay longer than that! At least top 3 =/

I thought she'd last longer until I saw her acting. She was so wooden. There just wasn't anything beyond her face. And I think that the lip synch really showed that.

It was sad that Phoenix felt the only thing she could do during the lip sync was to act just like Lady Ga Ga in the video. Delta was not as flashy, but she was true to herself and that is why she stayed.

That being said I was appalled at the way she talked about Stacie Matheews. It is true she is not the best, but she is doing pretty damn good i think for a girl her size. Power to the big people! ^-^

I didn't care for either of their lip syncs. I thought they were both kind of bland. The whole time I was wishing they'd both work it out like Sonique and Morgan.

I totally agree! No, Stacie isn't the best, but she did great at the challenge. I loved her makeup and the accent was hysterical.

OK, I went and spoiled myself by reading. :X Oh well. Can't contribute until I've seen the episode.

I was twitter-stalking Manila Luzon and found this adorable Ken/Barbie performance by Sahara + Manila. I guess they could be annoying, but I find them adorable.

They're cute! I love that Manila is also a freelance graphic artist for a living and actually kicks ass at it! Off topic I know.

Aren't they just! I didn't know that about Manila.

I don't think my embed worked -- the Barbie Girl video is here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK_9jHBvLQI)!

She did the Justin Bieber trading cards packages... no words!

So good! (http://newsroom.mtv.com/2010/12/07/justin-bieber-trading-cards/)

But to stay on topic -- I still love me some Raja. THE NAILS!! Channeling Nicki Minaj a la "Your Love" Geisha realness! DEAD!

I love the word "realness". It's so ridiculous and I need to learn how to use it because I don't really. Manatee realness?

All day. It took me awhile to figure out how to drop "realness" at the appropriate times... but once I figured it out it was over!

Oh man, this is why I avoid twitter. Manila links to Nina (http://twitter.com/DJNinaFlowers) who posted this:

"My take on today's episode...Ladies is so sad to see how some of you disrespect each other...I don't think you guys realize how much this is going to impact your careers. It also impacts our subculture, our community. Love yourself, but most important respect one and other. I know this is tv,but we can all compete with class and dignity. Learn from it. I love you all."

Poor kids.

I saw that! Honestly, I loved it. It's so true! Have you read any spoilers for Untucked? It was pretty brutal. I was really dissapointed in Shangela's attitude. Which makes me really sad.

I miss Nina and Pandora and all of the classy queens from seasons 1 and 2. There's been soooo much cattiness so far this season. And I may not like Mariah, but at least she seems nice. And she's willing to help out her fellow queens.

I haven't, but I don't mind being spoiled since I've already spoiled myself -- anyway it doesn't matter to me who wins as long as the ones I like stay on for a good long time :D

Yeah, the backstage stuff from Season 1 was actually quite delightful to watch -- it felt like they were mostly enjoying it, as a game. Which it is! More recently it kind of feels like they're performing and/or magnifying that backstage cattiness for the camera because it's sort of --- expected, maybe, for reality tv.

It also makes me miss Jessica "with or without panties" Wild.

Oh... It was nasty. Drinks were thrown. Citrus was thrown. Shade was thrown.

Shanglea was all over Mimi. Then Mimi acused Shangela of having a sugar daddy.

It was bad.

I never saw any of the backstage stuff from season 1, but they were way more laid back in general. They were there enjoying themselves. And the same with season 2. I mean... Yeah. There was drama. But drinks were never thrown. Nothing like that.

I so agree, I miss Jessica as well.

The back stage stuff from season one is called Under The Hood (http://www.logotv.com/video/misc/337592/under-the-hood-episode-1-fat-girls-sexy-shooters.jhtml?id=1608416) and although it is not as refined as the later behind the scenes, the girls are not being bitchy, catty, or throwing tons of shade or drinks. They do catch some attitude, but nothing like the last and this season. Oh and you will notice that no one is guzzling down any drinks which I think also adds to the drama.

Shangela needs to lay off the booze. That was such a trainwreck.

Sometimes I think that is the main problem with the whole show right now. Put a bunch of pissed off, narcissistic, bitchy women in the same room and give them mixed drinks. :(

Date: 2011-02-02 03:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] andika.livejournal.com
I guess so, but the silver lining is that we get to see them being 'real' as Shangela put it, so we know which ones are loathsome in advance and don't get too attached :)

I completely agree with that. I was doing high fives that first week when Venus was eliminated and this week when Phoenix went. I also at first really liked Delta Works, but after hearing her talk about Stacie Lane Mathews, i was horrified! She should have been defending her courage not dogging her out with the rest of the bitches! Sorry I get very upset when I hear stupid petty things like that.

I am also pretty sure that Mimi is on her way out since she relies on campiness way too much. Just wanted to throw that opinion in. ^0^

That is because Nina and all the ladies from the first season acted with dignity on stage and behind the scenes. I really miss them. :(

Season one was the best!!! I think they injected drama into season 2 for more ratings... it worked though.

That is honestly a sad thought, but it may be true. I also cannot help wondering if having two girls from P.R. and three large and lovely ladies was not a calculated move too. :(

i think it is getting slowly more calculated and slightly staged, but i'm really, REALLY cynical with this stuff. I could be wrong. IT'S STILL THE BEST SHOW EVER DON'T GET ME WRONG.

Eeeee. OK, aside from Shangela's hysteria, that was amazing. Raja and Manila were fantastic in the trailers, and Stacy was really good too. I couldn't tell the differences between the sets of robot twins.

I thought that all three of them totally rocked too! I did think that Mimi was way over the top though.

Yes! But they seemed to like it! But based on 'Starrbooty,' I guess Ru has an appreciation for high camp and overacting.

Manila's "Evil Henchwoman Realness" look was brilliant. And the fact that she described it as such.

Still I am beginning to think that Mimi is a one trick pony and always relies on campiness like Miss Bunny and Divine. If she cannot show the judges refinement, she is not going to make it much further.

I love Manila's character! ^0^

But, but, if you can't be campy in a sci-fi film about drag queens in uranus then when *can* you?

... I see what you mean though! Also, the one trick is laced with too much insecurity. She makes me nervous just watching her.

1) Raja is transcendent. Her walk and nails and knobby golden knees were superb. Also, she and Manila were far and away the best performers in those trailers. Raja really knows how to work every bit and angle of what she's got.

2) RuPaul looked GORGEOUS. I loved her makeup and wig.

3) I may be in love with Mariah. She's smart and unflappable. Loved her response to Shangela calling her 'tranny' (and WTF is UP with the queens on this show routinely using that as an insult?). Her 'we make history' speech was adorable. Yes, the editing rightly made fun of it a bit with that background music, but I appreciated that she went for it, in this age in which eloquence and intelligence are regarded as pretentious.

4) On the other hand Shangela's a mess. I hate it when they resort to cliched insults -- I mean, calling Mariah a 'pageant queen' when she was trying to diffuse the bullying and be constructive.

5) Shangela doesn't have a leg to stand on, calling Mimi 'unpolished'. Maybe she is, but Shangela's turn while lipsyncing last week was horrendous. Her wig was off, her nips were out. Ugh. And this week her hairline was visible, with her wig sitting atop her head like a hat.

6) Need moar Yara Sofia.

7) Delta Work's lipsync was perfect and graceful. It wasn't flashy but I think she really proved herself -- she has that quality I love in live performance -- a sort of confidence, comfort in her skin and sense of assurance that everything will be OK and nothing awful will happen.

I hope Shangela goes home before Mimi! Shange's hysterical but... isn't really serving it. This competition just isn't for her, in my opinion. That's not saying she's not a really awesome queen. I've seen her performances -- she's good. But not for this competition.

I'm so attracted to Raja as a girl and a boy. LOL. I shouldn't be though, I aint no gay man. But ugh I hope Adam Lambert's hitting that every opportunity he gets.

Gasp, teehee, clutching my pearls, etc. Might as well say that he is, because there's no way to know. But yeah, Raja's cute. And attraction is complicated, so maybe you *should* be :) I'm not really attracted to drag queens and am basically gay, but I'm really attracted to Morgan in drag. She has a lesbian vibe or something, and not just when she does the Pink look. I can't explain it.

I always think that about Morgan too!!! OMG hahaha I'm not the only one! Morgan has a coked out Biebian kind of vibe to her, I'm just not a fan of her eye make-up like PLEASE BLEND THAT SHIT!

& I'm just gonna wholesomely think that Adam and Raja are like just really good friends.

I've been finding myself increasingly attracted to gay men & drag queens lately and I'm a woman!!! It's annoying and weird haha. I'm okay with it, but I suppose I'll be forever frustrated over it.
Head over heels anyone? LOL.
