I want Tempest to come back sooooo badly; I really feel like her elimination was unwarranted. But it seems pretty obvious it's going to be Trixie.

Slightly off-topic, but every time I see "Big Ang" I keep expecting a really fat Asian guy who directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or the main character from Avatar: The Last Airbender after gaining weight, instead of...a Real Housewives character? A Jersey Shore person?

This is what I get for not commenting on the previous post. I disagreed with Max's elimination. She won 2 challenges, she had so much more to offer, whereas I think we've seen all we're going to get from Jaidynn. And by the way, she was not being a diva with the moment of her sitting down and singing on the runway. She tweeted that they asked her to sing while her corset was adjusted.

Should we also vote on who we think will come back (not who we want to come back)? I'd like it to be Max but I'm like 92% sure it'll be Trixie.

My thing is, by season 7 there are two big no-nos: not knowing how to sew, and being unable to successfully perform in Snatch Game. And of those two mistakes, sucking at Snatch Game is almost definitely guaranteed to get you booted off the show.

Now don't get me wrong, Jaidynn wasn't a great Raven-Symone (though not nearly as bad as Fame's Donatella Versace). But what Jaidynn did manage was to execute a recognizable impression, however one-note it was. Fame did not, and Max sure as hell definitely did not. Arguably if Max had just done her weird Courtney Act impression again, she would have been safe. (Which also begs the question of how she can at least manage the same performance as Courtney as Jaidynn did as Raven, but fuck up Sharon Needles so badly?)

And as for defensive tweeting, I'm reminded of Roxxxy Andrews and Carmen Carrera; queens say a lot of things after the fact. As [livejournal.com profile] lucifuge_5 said, that singing corset stunt didn't do her any favors whether it was her idea or not.

Yes, this. All of this.

Honestly, I apologize for having my tinfoil hat on, but ... Max's performance in the Snatch Game just seems so unlikely. Not impossible, but we have seen that Max can act, and that Max is a planner. It just seems so questionable to me that it went down the way we saw it edited. I cannot believe that Max wouldn't have practiced Sharon to the nth degree. Call me suspicious, call me crazy, but I just can't shake the feeling that there's something fishy (no pun intended) about that exit. Like, I am almost wondering if they're going to bring her back and the twist is going to be that she stays (unlike every other queen who's ever returned). After all, she hasn't missed an episode, so nobody could say that she was cutting in line by skipping a challenge.

I don't know. I am probably completely wrong, but that look was spot-on, as Michelle said. While I can believe that Max didn't win the challenge, it seems unlikely that it went as badly as the editing would make one believe.

I love Violet. Sorry, not sorry.

Why do so many people seem to want Trixie back? I don't even remember her. Had to look her up, and I still don't remember her. That's not Drag Superstar material, people. Sorry 'bout it.

I like Violet, too. I don't think she's "mean" or "shady" at all. She's honest with people, and -- like a couple of the girls have said to her -- she does get defensive easily, but, like, she never tries to hurt anyone deliberately. She doesn't even talk as much shit as the other girls behind their backs in confessionals.

I liked Trixie's stewardess look, but that's it. IDK why people were so upset about her leaving.

For me, Trixie's elimination was crappy because a queen who performed far worse in the challenge and the lip sync (Pearl) was allowed to stay. Ditto for Tempest, who was thrown over for Kandy motherfucking Ho of all people.

It's not so much "this queen was my favorite, waaaah," as "WTF happened with that judgment call?"

I also like Violet. I respect the fact that she is very real-looking but that she gives everything she has to delivering her look and her performance. She does not rest on her laurels. No T, no shade, Courtney Act had some pretty lazy looks last season.

Honestly, from Violet's edit, I don't get "villain," I get a queen who is legitimately a little exasperated by the way the acting challenges haven't been spaced out.

Bringing up the editing is a good point, too. I mean, they have to find as much drama as they can in the editing room, and the girls aren't throwing a whole lot of shade for them to work with this season. There're no grudges or anything like that. Maybe they learned something from how sick we all were with the Coco-Alyssa stuff.

Violet wasn't even in the bottom for this challenge this week, so any RuPology for liking her at this point is unnecessary. :p Actually I think this is the first episode I found Violet halfway likable, so it seems like she's getting better edits.

I don't think she's quite cut out to win, though.

Even though she had that human moment with Katya, I truly believe that Miss Fame should've been on the bottom two. Her SG was awful and she's been rather 'meh' if one is to compare her with the two other 'young 'uns' (Pearl and Violet). Unlike those two, Miss Fame hasn't really evolved as much. OTOH, she usually tends to do a rather flawless runway (as she did this time around too). In fact, I'm sure that it was her runway look what kept her from having to LSFYL.

Max was one my faves: I liked her look and her willingness to not let chaotic drama make her lose her cool. Unfortch, the 1-2 combo of terrible SG (that was one of the worst Needles impersonations I've seen!) and so-so runway was the death knell for her place in the competition. I did think that the corset snafu + singing thing was odd (whether or not the judges asked for her to sing that editing did her no favours).

I gave Kennedy a really hard side-eye because the boy drag was a super risky move. Luckily for her, it paid off. FWIW, I also gave a lot of the queens the "really, queen?" look when several of them didn't know how to interpret their characters or even had back-ups. This is the SEVENTH SEASON of the show! By now, the queens better know who to play in SG and how to make them memorable by also being funny. :|

Finally, I'm glad we had the "no sashayed queen needs to return' option in the poll. Based on what I can remember from previous seasons, the returning queen tends to not make it to final three. Also, I'm not particularly excited by any of the choices. #OhMamaRu

Sharon Needles and Alyssa Edwards are essentially men, so really Kennedy wasn`t the only person portraying someone without a snatch. I have to agree with her that Little Richard has been in drag his whole life, which is how I think she got away with playing him.

I half expected Max to do someone from the golden age of Hollywood and was really disappointed with what he did go with. He nose dived the entire episode and deserved to go, but I was actually really amused by the way he deflected his critique by faking corset asphyxiation and then broke into song :D

I thought Pearl rocked this week, I loved her runway look and the way the episode ended on her sneer. I want Tempest to be the returning queen, her baby drop entrance made me howl and we really need some old school in the competition.

You know something? I hadn't thought of that, but you're definitely right! Max playing as Bette Davis or Joan Crawford would've suited her a lot better than Sharon Needles.

Of course, she could've still been 'meh'. A good (if not great) comedic timing is super important to shine during the SG. I'm not sure Max's sense of humour has that sort of spark that makes everyone LOL.

(Also: yeah, Pearl was awesomecakes!)

Like you say comedy really is key with Snatch Game and Max does have a very dry sense of humour that seems lost on most people.
I think he would have made quite a good Tallulah Bankhead. She isn`t as well known as Bette and Joan, but she was a raging lush that fucked anything with a pulse, so plenty of comedy potential to work with.

I think that he could've worked the bitchier side of Bette but not that 'oomph' that Tallulah had.

In all truth, Max-as-Needles would've been fun if he'd yielded to Sharon's dark-yet-campy side. It was a disappointment all around, really.

Hahahah, yeah maybe you`re right about the `oomph`, I could see him more at home with someone like Greta Garbo, but she would have been a worse choice to portray than Sharon.

Max nailed his Sharon Needles look, but she had loads of memorable lines during her season and he could have mimicked them. Like you say disappointing, even though I was loving him up to that episode.
