Phi phi's ass should had gone home!

I'm really pissed Phi Phi wasn't in the bottom two. There's no reason that Latrice should have been in the bottom two over Phi Phi. Even if Latrice fell a little flat this week, Phi Phi is so-so every week and her little "joke" was awful.

This. And I hope they bring Willam back!

This to your this. Also "this" to Willam. When Ru was reading the list of elminated contestants, I was whispering a lot of, "Aw hell no!"s to myself. Maybe The Princess, but she was eliminated so long ago, it wouldn't be fair at all to bring her back.

As long as it's not Jiggly...

I agree with both your sentiments! I think just bringing Willam back would DESTROY Phi Phi... and then to have her sent home... bliss.

Either Santino holds more sway than I thought, or Ru already knew Dida was going home, and just threw Latrice in there to give us a better lipsync show. At this point, Phi Phi is only still here for the drama, because lord knows she isn't funny or talented, just grating and dramariffic.

Preach it.

Phi Phil's ego is getting bad but she is making fewer dumb errors than Dida.

Phi phi is the Tyra Sanchez of the season but I do not see her winning. How Tyra won is...oh, Ru fucked over Pandora Boxx

Can anyone tell me who won the main challenge?

I'm stuck in class and am dying to know. :)

Thanks!

My teacher actually let us out of class early so I didn't see that until now, but I did get to catch the last of the show when I got home. ;)

Aw, crap. Dida is amazing, I'll miss her on the show.

Cannot understand why Phi was not in the bottom two with either Latrice or Dida (either of whom would have won).

Did anyone else think that Phi's stripper platforms were the most random/worst of the bunch?

No idea who they'll bring back... any bets?

I have a bad feeling it will be Kenya Michaels, but I really hope it will be The Princess. My concern is that if Kenya comes back, Phi Phi will become even more intolerable with someone on her side.

That's exactly how I feel. I think they'll bring Kenya back, but I wish they'd bring The Princess back.

This is how I feel - I honestly think Kenya and Willam are the most "realistic" choices, based on talent, and I would die to see Phi Phi's face if Willam walked back in. But I think Kenya's a pretty good bet - both for talent and drama potential, especially teamed up with Phi Phi.

I hope it's the Princess, but Michelle didn't like her so I guess not.

Kenya used to be my favourite but between that letter, and her and Phi2 being BFFs, I've sort of gone off her entirely. Maybe that will change.

I thought Phi Phi's platforms were definitely the most literal - I thought they were fun though. Personally I liked Sharon's design a lot more, it wasn't so on the nose.

But then I thought, well, this is a drag competition, so maybe subtlety wasn't what was asked for haha!

Just a quick thought about last week's show:

SHUT THE F UP PHI PHI

Now for this week:

- I thought the way that most of the girls were celebrating William's departure was really mean spirited. I totally get having no sympathy for someone who breaks rules and gets in trouble. But oh the irony of Phi Phi celebrating the most. She knew she was gone last week if William wasn't sent packing.

- I thought Dida was f'n robbed in the mini-challenge. Omg her shoes were so adorable. I thought her verbal message was a misfire. I thought they looked like a masquerade ball/Mardi Gras realness.

- Tbh I thought all the shoes were quite but totally off point what the theme was. Esp Phi Phi. When I think grapevine , I don't think lime green fruit salad. If anything, Latrice's shoes were more grapevine. I wonder if the girls' stuff got mixed up or something. idk

- I got about a minute into the main challenge before I had to fast forward it. It was so embarrassing.

- A lot of good runway looks this week! I really liked Chad's look, even if it made her look 20 years old.

- The critiques made me glad that I skipped main challenge. Between Phi Phi being totally racist to a lot of it just being flat.

- Latrice getting the holy spirit was funny as heck. haha

- Finally, everyone but Phi Phi finally proved to me that they have some relatable/charm. For someone who hasn't shined at all, Dida was endearing as heck. Like, I finally get why she was around as much as she was. Chad being insecure is something I think everyone can relate to. Latrice being *cough* man enough to tell Santino what she thought was amazing. Heck, I even finally got Sharon's sense over humor. "Considering my odds at winning $100,000 are 1 in 5; well, 1 in 4 if you don't consider Phi Phi" was prolly the best thing said this season. haha

HOW is Phi Phi in the Top 5? She just comes across as the most atrocious human being. I mean, there's editing... but there's far too much material for it to be just the editing.

It would be EPIC if Willam got brought back and sent Phi Phi home. Though my boyfriend thinks it would be wonderfully brutal if Kenya came back and sent Phi Phi home. Either way, Phi Phi has to go home. Off-colour jokes aside, she's just so boring and predictable. Also, did anyone else notice that she'd begun incorporating other queen's moves? Her little "I didn't win?" at the end of the debate was pure Willam and her snakey arms was just like Sharon a few weeks back. Uurghhhhhhh she's just horrid.

I must say, I really missed Willam. It continues to surprise me how much of a mark she made on the show and how I've really grown to like her and her style of performance! It really made me respect Chad when she confessed to feeling sorry Willam got booted that way. Sharon's calling it punk rock was hilarious.

I'm really glad for Sharon, she totally deserved her win. And she looked great in the debate! I personally found Chad's debate persona a bit embarrassing, but I'm glad it went down well (in hindsight, it was very well executed) and I loved her runway look. I'm in total awe of the Absolut guy, he's such a dude. Both him and Dan Savage were excellent.

Dida was a lovely presence, the total opposite of Phi Phi in many ways. Unfortunately I won't miss her - I don't think she was well-rounded enough as a performer to keep it exciting. But seeing her and Latrice lipsynching against each other, what a treat!

You're right!! I think she could be OK if she relaxed a bit. I didn't think her racist character jokes were too bad (I mean, it was clearly *acting*) but her execution was so twitchy and trying-too-hard- that none of it seemed satirical, just weird.

Isn't Chad the best? Everything Sharon said to her during untucked about how her character is too lovely to be evident on a runway is so true.

On Dida -- I can't forget her amazing, epic lipsync against the Princess. I'm not going to argue that Latrice should have lost this one (she clearly brought it). But Latrice did take off her heels for the LSFYL! And I suspect Dida did better than the editing choices showed.

I feel like if Dida came back in a couple of years she could win. She's a lot like Ru. But (as evident in the magazine challenge) she took some things a bit too literally and didn't let herself do as well as she could have.

Date: 2012-03-28 08:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] barnacleboo.livejournal.com
I agree with you on everything apart from Dida being a lot like Ru - I think Dida comes across as an all-round lovely person (and she has great energy onstage - I adored her lipsynch against the Princess!) but I don't know if she wants to be more varied than the nice girl persona. Ru's so successful because he's so insanely smart and canny in addition to everything else, right? He's such a chamaeleon.

I feel a little sorry for Phi Phi, actually. Talk about cognitive dissonance. We've seen some moments where she is capable of kindness... but then she seems so mean-spirited in general. It just feels like some of the other queens have had way harder times than her and they still manage to be so much more upbeat, positive and generous. It's so frustrating.

I don't know why Latrice was in the bottom two, unless Michelle Visage's hatred of bra straps carries more weight than I could have ever imagined. She killed it this week, between her volley back at Phi for the racist joke and "I didn't apprecianate her calling me black when I'm Polynesian." At this point I suspect it's an unwritten rule for RuPaul that everyone must LSFYL once to avoid another Tyra Sanchez incident, in which case Chad will probably be in the bottom two next week.

I will say, though, that when Latrice was LSFYLing I totally saw her channeling Aretha (even though it was a Gladys Knight song). I just wish she had brought a tenth of what she showed in that performance to Snatch Game. And I suppose her runway look wasn't that great; she looked like Sherri Shepard.

I think Sharon totally deserved the win because she was the most serious about it and still somehow managed to bring Michele Bachman realness during the debate. But I was not in love with her runway look; that dress looked very slapdash and like it was made in half a day for a reality competition. For all I know she may very well have made it that afternoon, but it's never supposed to be *evident.*

I thought Chad was a prime candidate for bottom two because she didn't take the challenge seriously at all, and I was a little surprised at how much the judges seemed to like her. Honestly but for the racist joke, I though Phi was a better example of how to bring humor to a political realness challenge, so apparently this is just one of those "I guess I don't know fashion" moments. I thought that Chad's proper First Lady runway look did a lot to save her, but again it seemed that the judges loved her and I did not get it.

They were spot on with Dida's critiques, and at this point I think it's just a question of her taste level. She doesn't know that the wig she was wearing sucked. She doesn't realize how tacky some of her looks are. She doesn't really know how to be head-to-toe classy without being frumpy. Plus she has that bad tendency to just shut down instead of trying to make it work. She just needs a couple of years to polish herself.

Personally I thought Phi's prop comedy came off a lot better than her Palin parody, which by the way Tatianna did much better. I also thought her runway look was the very essence of who Phi Phi O'Hara is: it was beautiful at first glance, but then you realized that the hair was absolutely fried, and she turned around and revealed that ghastly, tacky-ass full-body length corset tie detail that looked like it belonged on a fetish outfit. And I swear her wonky eye is mutating or something; this week it looked like she had two eyelids on her left eye.

Her racist joke really was in poor taste, especially considering that Phi is a douchebag from Texas. But it was almost worth it to hear Latrice's comeback and to watch Dida's slapped-in-the-face reaction and mouthing "Oh I know that bitch did not just..." or something to that effect. I loved how during Untucked she was all, "But they laughed," and they cut to the judging panel absolutely not having any of it. Clearly Phi lives in an alien dimension that none of us can ever comprehend or relate to where up is down and left is right and the laws of physics hold no sway. And of course Santino would stand up for her, because Santino is also a douchebag who doesn't have the quality verbal filter he should. By which I mean he should be fitted with a Hannibal Lecter mask at all times.

When Ru came out on the runway, I was like "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat realness!" That is all.

I would like it if Willam came back, but I doubt that would happen since they were apparently serious enough about her rule violation to kick her off in the first place. My second choice just for all-around value would be Kenya, but if they use the same criteria that brought Carmen back last year, they will bring back Jiggly Hot Fat Caliente.

I love your shade!!! Love it. It's like you're from the Sharon Needles school of 'just say it.'

Although I have to disagree with (everyone) and say that I loved Dida's wig. I thought it was really cute, although it could have been styled a little better.

Wasn't Carmen brought back because she was the fishiest?

Date: 2012-03-28 01:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kapvik.livejournal.com
I guess I should amend the statement to be that Dida doesn't know that the wig she wore on the runway didn't go with her dress, and it certainly didn't bring any inaugural ball realness. It was kind of the same problem Latrice's look and Phi's look had - it was something that would be appropriate for an awards show, but not a state dinner/ball.

But then again Sharon's look was all kinds of off, and they gave her the win. Though her debate performance was probably just that much better than everyone else's that she still pulled off a win even with a runway look that had nothing to do with the criteria.

Did they bring Carmen back because she was the fishiest? I didn't know that; I'd kind of given up trying to figure out any logical reason for picking Carmen. If so, what a random reason to bring a queen back, and it was still a damned waste because it was Carmen, who only played to pervy tranny chasers.

How the fuck did Phi Phi's racist ass survived? I get it was acting but even jokes have hint of realness to then. LAWD. Chad should have won tbh but I am such a Sharon fanboy that it's all win-win to me.

I HOPE WILLIAM COMES BACK. BECAUSE FUCK YES

I know. That kind of humour is so easy to get wrong. The person making the joke might do so without the intention to offend, but if done incorrectly it still perpetuates the stereotype/discrimination.

You know, I honestly don't think Phi is racist, if for no other reason than she's shot the overwhelming bulk of her animosity towards two blonde white queens, Sharon and Willam, and hasn't really displayed any behavior of the sort to any nonwhite queens until now, when she was clearly trying to do a character. I do however think she is delusional and doesn't have any capacity to admit her own mistakes. It was a non-PC joke that fell flat; quit trying to defend it and just accept that you did not pull it off. I think it's her ridiculous defensiveness that's making her come off as racist.
